Stop Limiting Yourself: Why You Need Intentions, Not Just Goals

Stop Limiting Yourself: Why You Need Intentions, Not Just Goals

May 06, 20252 min read

We’ve all heard it before: “Set clear goals and chase them relentlessly.” For years, this philosophy shaped how I approached business, fitness, finances, and even relationships. And while goal-setting helped me achieve a lot, I eventually hit a wall. A wall that made me realize something powerful:

Goals can actually limit you.

That realization sparked a shift in how I live, lead, and grow — and today, I want to share why intentions, not just goals, are the key to unlocking massive success and abundance.

What’s the Problem with Traditional Goals?

Here’s the trap many high-achievers (like me) fall into:
We set a specific target (say, $100K in revenue or 10K followers), grind hard, and celebrate when we hit it.

But what happens next?

  • We stall.

  • We slow down.

  • Worse, we close ourselves off from even bigger opportunities because we were so laser-focused on a single outcome.

When we make life about “checking boxes,” we often miss the unexpected doors that could have taken us further.

Goals vs. Intentions: The Key Difference

goal is an end result: a number, a title, an achievement.
An intention is a guiding force — a way of being and living that keeps you expanding, even when you hit milestones.

“Intentions keep you open to more than you ever imagined. Goals just get you what you imagined — and sometimes less.”

For example:
— A goal might be to make $500K this year.
— An intention might be to create massive value and impact in everything you do.

The second approach doesn’t stop when the number is hit — it keeps expanding, evolving, and attracting more.

Why Intentions Create Abundance

Intentions allow you to:
Pivot and adjust as new opportunities arise
Stay motivated beyond just numbers or trophies
Welcome abundance instead of operating from scarcity
Build sustainable growth that outlasts short-term wins

When I stopped obsessing over micro-goals and focused on living with bold, clear intentions, everything in my life and business leveled up. I attracted bigger collaborations, created deeper relationships, and tapped into opportunities I couldn’t have scripted.

How to Set Massive Intentions Today

  1. Define who you want to be, not just what you want to have
→ Example: “I intend to be a leader who inspires and empowers daily.”

  2. Stay open to possibilities beyond your plan
→ Detach from how it will happen — focus on showing up powerfully.

  3. Revisit your intentions weekly
→ Ask: Am I acting in alignment with my bigger vision?

  4. Celebrate growth, not just results
→ Progress over perfection. Expansion over checklists.

Final Thoughts

If you’re tired of small thinking and short-lived wins, it’s time to shift. Let your intentions guide you — and watch how much further you can go.

Stop setting ceilings. Start setting intentions.
